Occy: Icons Never Die
In 2007 Mark "Occy" Occhilupo retired from professional surfing after over 20 years on the tour. Occy is a legend in surfing. I mocked up a poster on a whim one day that struck a chord with everyone at the office. It quickly became the art used in a 3 page spread, shirts, hats, and stickers. Billabong Australia took it even further and developed an Occy tribute website and videos. When Occy finished his final heat in a pro tour event at pipeline he was "chaired" up the beach surrounded by friends, competitors, supporters and fans sporting Occy shirts.
